Being on the third-floor level within the apartment block or even on the topmost level of your own villa provides you with the stunning scenic view that should be preserved. You surely don't want to see any iron railing there, turning your balcony into a cell. Nevertheless, while the job of protecting you is supposed to be done by the traditional balcony grill, such an approach is not very aesthetically pleasing since it ruins the whole scenery. And here comes the invisible grill. It is put up in the residential buildings of both Nagpur and Mumbai to secure the residents and still give them the pleasure of observing the views without anything obstructing the line of sight. We will assist you in getting the invisible grill and installing it completely, starting with the measurement and ending up with the tension test. Everything about invisible grill types can be found here
Invisible grills are balcony safety railings made using a combination of very fine stainless steel wires that are suspended between a top rail and a bottom rail anchored to either your slab or your wall. These wires are positioned horizontally, vertically, or diagonally and positioned at intervals narrow enough to avoid falling through them but thin enough to look invisible when viewed from indoors.
There are no metal rails, no welding work involved, and no wire meshes used in this process. The whole idea of this is based on tension, and when weight comes in, the wire bends but still manages to hold within the stipulated safety limits. This is how you have an actual invisible safety grill for your balcony.
Unifirst Screens provides such systems to homeowners, society members, and building contractors in Nagpur and Mumbai.
The type of cable used determines how long the system lasts. Two types are recommended for good installations:
Grade 316 Marine Stainless Steel is the perfect invisible grill for balconies that receive exposure from rainfall, salty air, or excessive moisture. The composition of grade 316 has molybdenum, which prevents chlorides from causing corrosion. Therefore, it is the appropriate invisible grill for installation in Mumbai, which has salty air causing rusting in poor-quality metal. Unifirst Screens exclusively uses grade 316 cables in their invisible grills in Mumbai.
Grade 304 Stainless Steel is ideal for sheltered balconies or those located inland. Its cost is slightly lower, and its performance in dry conditions is better than that of grade 316. Grade 304 is ideal for the majority of residential installations in Nagpur, where the humidity levels are seasonal but not persistent.
What most customers fail to realize: the track and anchor components must be made of the same grade of cable. An invisible grill using grade 316 cables will not last long if installed using 304-grade clamps. The parts will start to corrode within two to three years.
Three common invisible grill layouts that are possible using Unifirst Screens include vertical, horizontal, and diagonal layout.
Vertical cable layout is by far the most popular among these designs for apartment balconies. Here, the cables are laid between the top and bottom tracks at a distance of 50 to 75 mm apart. It meets all modern requirements for an apartment safety grill, is approved for children's safety and is easy to maintain. This design gives the maximum clear view balcony grill result due to the fact that vertical stripes become invisible against the sky background.
In horizontal cable layout, the cables are arranged horizontally or parallel to the floor. It fits balconies with big spans and low height parapet walls. While being slightly more visible from the street side, they give a completely unobstructed view when sitting at a low indoor position.
Diagonal and other custom designs are possible for penthouses, bungalows, balconies with irregular shape or size and similar situations.
The ideal spacing for an invisible grill on a balcony that will be occupied by adults and children is 50mm since it will stop a young person aged less than five from placing his/her head through the gaps between the cables.
If there will be no young people in your house or in your case the grill will only be used for decorative purposes, then the spacing may range between 75mm and 100mm.
Cable diameter: Unifirst Screens recommends 2mm for balconies up to the fifth floor and 3mm cables for balconies above the fifth floor or in cases where there is a wider span.
Tracks: For lower floors that are well protected, aluminium tracks are recommended whereas stainless steel tracks are ideal for balconies that are not well protected or high-floor balconies or those near the coast.
Unifirst Screens falls under the category of existing Invisible Grill Suppliers in Nagpur who provide a direct supply chain of cables, tracks, and hardware. Our services span all the residential areas of Dharampeth, Ramdaspeth, Wardha Road, Sitabuldi, Pratap Nagar, and other neighboring localities.
The installation procedure goes like this: one of our technicians comes to your home, calculates the balcony dimensions, checks the health of the slab, determines the railings in use, and suggests the appropriate system. Installation for an ordinary balcony takes about four to six hours. No outsourcing here! The same crew who measures will install it. Once installed, we check for tension at each anchor point and prepare a written report.
Unifirst Screens handles invisible grill in Mumbai for residential clients across Andheri, Bandra, Borivali, Thane, and Navi Mumbai. Mumbai's combination of heat, monsoon rain, and sea air means material selection is not optional 316-grade marine stainless steel is the only grade we install in coastal Mumbai locations.
All hardware, including tracks, clamps, and anchor bolts, is 316-grade or powder-coated stainless steel to prevent joint corrosion. Site visits are available on weekdays and weekends by appointment.
The invisible window grill follows the cable and track concept but is designed for window apertures. It works using an installation inside a metal frame fixed to the window sill and lintel. It is ideal for windows at ground floor level or in children’s bedrooms and kitchens, where regular grills seem too cumbersome.
Unifirst Screens provides invisible window grills in addition to the balcony grills for customers who require a cohesive design on their balcony and windows. The construction requirements remain similar.
Another issue that we are sometimes asked about by our clients is that of the invisible mesh for balconies. In contrast to cable solutions, where each wire forms an element, mesh consists of a stainless steel or fibre glass woven mesh. The advantage of the latter option is its smaller gaps, which means that in addition to functioning as a fall barrier, mesh will protect against insects and small animals.
Our company offers both cable and mesh solutions, depending on the client's needs. Should you be mainly concerned with children's safety, choose the first option, while if you want to additionally prevent insects from entering your apartment, choose mesh.
